Textile & Apparel Digital Design Project
This project challenged the development of a small apparel collection and textile designs using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Then, converting those designs into 3D models using the 3D apparel modeling program, Browzwear.
Desert is a conceptual outdoor clothing brand with a contemporary design language. The demographic includes active men in their mid-20’s to mid-’30s who engage in outdoor activities and value sustainable outdoor clothing brands like Arc’teryx and Patagonia. These individuals also expect premium apparel construction and material quality.
Textile Design Development
The textile pattern designs used in this collection were inspired and developed using photos that I photographed during my trips to Sequoia National Park, CA, Joshua Tree National Park, CA, and Bryce Canyon National Park, UT.
I began by creating several motifs using the photographs taken during my trip. I extracted shapes, colors, and textures from the plants, trees, and rocks in the photographs to develop the textile color palette and pattern.

Apparel Design Development
Desert is dedicated to bringing sustainable practices to every step of its supply chain. As a Bluesign® system partner, our clothing will be made from high-quality technical fabrications sourced from a third-party global textiles management system that ensures we meet our sustainability goals.
The design language behind this Spring 2021 collection is a blend of minimalist cuts and original camouflage textile patterns inspired by earth’s unique natural landscapes.

These utility pants are made from a recycled nylon fabric, have two large welt pockets & two large flap pockets in the front, and panels on knees and back for extra durability.

This windbreaker jacket is made from a recycled ripstop nylon fabric. Its pullover design allows for quick and easy layering for colder weather. The drawcorded hoodie help fastens the hood when needed.

This lighweight utility vest is made from a recycled nylon and polyester blend. The vest was designed to be versitle in function with two carabiner hook points to quickly attach lighweight gear; the circular pocket provides extra space to store small items. This vest allows for multiple layering when needed as well.
